The invention of the app Snapchat is a prime example of remediation with digital media. For all of time before the digital era, people were forced to have face-to-face interaction. Soon came the telegraph, then the telephone, followed by the cell phone, and next the camera phone. Now we are in a time where digital media rules our social life. One major smart phone application that is taking over our lives is Snapchat.

Instead of talking face to face, calling or even texting, we want an app where no paper trail is left behind. We can say something or send pictures and videos and it will be gone within seconds all without having the embarrassment of doing it in person. This app can be funny and convenient with keeping up with friends, but it can also be a distraction and help lead to the demise of our social skills.
