Gimp is an open source photo editing software much like Photoshop or PicMonkey. Photoshop can be used in many IMC/ Graphic Design/ Marketing classes for higher education. I use PicMonkey quite frequently because it is an online site that is more user friendly than Photoshop; however, both require a license/ subscription ranging from $24.95 to $120 a year.

A free photo editing software such as Gimp would make these classes more accessible to students as many are intimidated by the pricy subscriptions. Gimp can be used on Microsoft, Linux, and OSX making it accessible to all types of computers.
