The Usability Test was interesting and thought provoking. In class we discussed what it means for something to have good usability. For example, we discussed Norman Doors. Don Norman, a professor in psychology wrote a book called The Usability of Everyday Things about how so many things we use every day, such as doors, have poor usability. When we have to think about whether we are supposed to push or pull a door, this means it has poor usability. A user should not have to put a great deal of thought into using an object.
In order to further study usability, we were assigned to find a website or application which has poor usability and discover what makes it so hard to use. For the assignment I chose the app Snapchat. The initial inspection, usability test, and proposed redesign can be found in the below.
