Summarize the article — include your reaction, thoughts, anything to help you remember its claims. 100 to 150 words This article talks about how arguments have turned into warfare. That today when people are in arguments we use tactics like in war. We don’t appeal to Logos, Pathos, or Ethos but rather personal attacks. It also talked about how today we dont come to a compromise. That we see it as defeat. When the Greeks debated compromise was a common occurrence that it was not a personal matter. Where today we take everything against our point as a threat. The article also talks about how non violent people pushed their agenda in their arguments with sticking to the point and not getting caught up in personal attacks.

ACE Blog Post

Growing Adverse Childhood Experiences are traumatic events in a child’s life. This includes drugs, physical and verbal abuse, as well as growing up with a family member who has mental health issues. Toxic stress from these problems can cause mental disorders as well as other health problems. Adverstys like poverty, racism, and violence can have tremendous effects later in a child’s life. Poverty will limit a child’s resources and make it difficult for a child to succeed in school. Racism in a child’s life is very dangerous it causes hate for no reason. One child will spread hate like a disease. Violence will cause a child to grow up scared or extreme aggressive which neither is good in the long run. ACEs would affect literacy by children not being able to write and read properly. Also they may not want to go through the struggle of learning to read and write because their life is a struggle.

Dr.Mona blogpost

I think Doctor Mona has done a tremendous amount of research and work. She saved countless lives from lead poisoning. Flint is already a struggling city since GM pulled out in the 1980’s. The city has enough problems without poisonous water coming from their pipes. Which they pay one of the highest water bills in the country for lead contaminated water. I personally have not brought attention or change to a subject as big or important as the Flint water crisis. However I have helped with volunteer work in my community and in neighboring communities. Me as an individual can only be limited by myself for what I can do. Many people have achieved great things by themselves by being motivated and ready for the challenge. I currently am not passionate about anything enough to try to make a change. However there are some things I can do to make this place safer. I could volunteer again. I could also recycle and help other students when they are down. There are many things that I can do to help make the world a better place.

Summarize the article — include your reaction, thoughts, anything to help you remember its claims. 100 to 150 words This article talks about how a beginning  writer reads over his paper and how an experienced writer reads over his paper. It tells how experienced writers see it as a first step to start writing and how beginning writers see it as a big step. Writers must also be able to handle criticism that this will only make their piece better than before. This is hard for many writers due to their ego and that these stories are self reflections of themselves.Experienced writers also don’t check line by line they check to see if all the lines flow together to form their idea.

What is Literacy to you Blog Post

1)  Literacy to me is the way I read and understand text. Whether it be throwing pictures or motions anyway I can understand the message being communicated to me.

2) My parents I would say are some of my biggest Literacy sponsors, also my older brother.

3)My story like Fishman’s started in elementary school probably in the third grade when I found a couple of books that I actually enjoyed reading. So as any parent does my Mom bought me some books from the same author and I began spending more and more time reading. Then I stopped reading. I don’t quite remember why but I just did not enjoy it. I was struggling in school. I couldn’t write very well and my reading had gone down hill significantly after that. It was a hard time for many years. I had to go to places during the summers to help improve my skills in both reading and writing. Throughout middle school I had to rely on help from my Mom and Brother who would spend hours with me helping with writing assignments. I only started to be able to write on my own by about 8th or 9th grade. When I got to high school there was a big push to improve my reading and writing skills, which I believe I have tremendously improved. Through it all I had a loving family that spent a great deal of time and money to help me.
