Ann John’s article is about communities and how we belong to many different communities even if you have different views than your community. We join communities that share similar interests. One community is Athletes. From there, many small groups or clubs make up that community. Such as Football players, or Wrestlers, Basketball players, and so on. Within this community not all Athletes will agree what is the best sport, but they share a common interest in that being in a sport is enjoyable. Not just Athletes join these communities of shared interests. Academic communities exist as well. Many people who study in the same academic field create communities. These communities create their own text which is used to express ideas within their respective communities. Throughout the Academic community there are many different groups that study within their field. Like Scientists, Lawyers, Authors, and Engineers. The smaller groups of these communities, share similar political, social, and religious beliefs. Some of the Communities that I belong to are Greek Life, Undergrad, Car Community, Tennessean, and Engineering Majors. The smaller groups are Phi Kappa Tau, Class of 2024, Japanese Domestic Market (JDM), Middle Tennessee, Civil Engineer Major.
