FOSS DOCUMENTATION
For our second project, we focused on two very important concepts related to digital literacy and composition. The theme of this unit was free/open source culture: in regards to what the movement is all about, its pros and cons, and its larger societal implications for intellectual property, copyright, education, and the economy.
For this project, we were put into groups based on the open-source tool, application, resource, or project we chose and were advised to create a documentation set that will specifically target college students. Our documentation included three components:
- Primary user guide
- One video demonstration or screencast
- Curated list of links/resources for further reading
My group chose to cover the sub-group of Wikipedia called, Wikiversity. If you click here, you can view my project and learn more about Wikiversity. You can also watch the video below to listen to an interview conducted with an Ole Miss professor about Wikipedia and Wikiversity.
