To me literacy is how people write and read in their own ways.
My mom is one of my sponsors of literacy.
Ever since I was a baby, I have always grown up going to church. We would go as a family every Sunday and it became apart of our weekly routine. As a child my mother would read me a book every night before I would go to bed. Some nights they would be christian books and other nights they would just be regular children books. After I would get out of the bath we would get ready for bed and read a book right before I was about to go to sleep. I always had a shelf in my room and my mom would always let me pick which book I wanted but she always said “we have to finish this book before we can start reading another one.” Sometimes after we would read the christian books she would ask me what I learned from the book which would help me understand the lesson the book was trying to give the reader, even if they were children books. Eventually after many years of bedtime stories, we ended that tradition when I got older. I think those stories had a strong impact on me and the way I learn. It also helped my literacy skills grow more.
