Literacy to me is fundamental and educational. It is the place where i learned about all different people, some of who related to me personally, and some who did not. One of my sponsors of literacy would be my teacher. In school, going to the library was a daily routine, and with this teachers would force us to pick out books. These books we chose were used to grade us and determine if we were reading in our appropriate grade level. My reading level was higher than most, so the books that I was able to choose from were way more mature than my peers. I ended up growing to love reading and would find myself in the public library, I even attained a library card, which I could use to take home books of my choice. In the public library there were a wider variety of content to which I could choose from. I always found myself finding books about girls that were just like me, or books about African American people and their experiences, and this all made me grow to love reading. Even now when I go to choose a book they are mostly about things that relate to me personally, my race, and my gender.
