Unfair Costs of Being a Man and Woman

Chelsea Fagan from The Financial Diet portrayed in each of her “Unfair costs of being a Man/Woman” informative videos some of the many disadvantages that come with each gender through a small list of six examples shedding light on the negative impact these stereotypes or assumptions cause to not only the people affected by them but to our society as a whole. Chelsea takes the time to detail the strong factors by which form the premise around these inefficiencies. After viewing each of these videos I am able to analyze the connections between them, In both Chelseas videos I can witness where they agree on how each gender has a fair amount of drawbacks negatively affecting everyone as a whole, but I can also view where the sources challenge one another for conflicting opinions on the matter at hand. Overall I believe Chelsea and The Financial Diets argument contains a sensible amount of evidence to support their longstanding claims.

The Longest War Connection Piece

Through this piece Rebecca Solnit gives a lengthy detailed description on the gruesome statistics of rapes in the U.S. everyday, with reportedly 1 in 5 woman in their lifetime and one occurring every 6.2 minutes on average she addresses the fact that this is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with. She explains how in the government it is normalized for the victims to be subjected to inhumane rights where they are treated without respect and are unable to defend themselves. There are also many example she gives about how this mostly stems from men and how we must be held accountable and take responsibility for our own actions rather than the victims having to resolve the situation. There are many central ideas throughout this piece that replicate themes we have discussed in class a main one being the dominance of men and subjugation of woman over many many centuries where woman have always been treated as less than men having less rights and power to speak out.

Semester Goals Check In

After taking a look and reviewing my goals for this semester I can analyze and see where I have made great progress as well as where I could use great improvement. For my first goal to maintain my grade point average, this semester has proved more trying and difficult than last semester which has unmotivated me to work which also plays into another one of my goals I desperately need to fix which is my procrastination. Following that my next goal to maintain my new truck I have excelled at which brings me joy to see it clean with no scratches. and finally my last and final goal that I set out for myself was to have as much fun and go out as much as possible this semester but I have been finding that increasingly difficult as well with the cities over the top guidelines and restrictions leading to a less than favorable time when going out.

2/3 Peer Reeviews

After participating in this class today I learned a lot that I could use in my project to improve it in many ways. After reading the sample drafts from other classes I was able to see that an area of improvement on my project would be enhancing how this specific experience changed myself as a whole. As well as another point in which I can see how I changed my actions following the event. further on after discussing the peer reviews I can see better where I can input better details to show where this specific experience took place and how exactly it changed me.
