Dr. Mona made a difference in her city, Flint, Michigan, by speaking up. She stood up to the corrupted government and racism. She brought the corruption of the government to the light and published a study that made the national news. Her study caused President Obama to declare a federal emergency in Flint. Her efforts helped save lives.
A time I can remember that I helped someone aware of things is when my neighbor’s grass was on fire. It’s not on the same scale as Dr. Mona, but I helped them get the fire out and got their dog to a safe place. To make the world a better place, I think I can continue to do the right thing. I can throw away trash instead of littering, take showers instead of baths, or use reusable items instead of disposable ones. As far as making it safer, I can do and help educate people on doing what is right.
