What is Literacy Reading Journal

This article has one main point and that is to define the word “literacy.” That seems like a simple word for us because it just means the ability to read and write. But in this article the author describes literacy in a deep and very thought out way that most people do not think of. The author starts of by defining discourse. According to this article discourse means “a socially accepted association among ways of using language and acting that can identify oneself as a member of a social network.” In other words it means communication of thoughts by conversation with other people. Through out the article the author relates literacy to discourses because without the ability to read and write discourses would not be able to happen
