Adverse childhood experiences come in many different ways. They can come in ways such as physical abuse, mental abuse, neglect, and even just not being accepted by your household. Toxic stressors are the same thing as adverse childhood experiences because they both are struggles and adversity that a child has to go through.
Poverty, racism, and violence all can affect a child’s development in so many ways. For someone that has to go through these adversities their development can take major shots for the worse. The development of a child creates the basis of their entire lives. Poverty can affect a child’s development because a bad home life will affect the mental health of the child. Racism can affect the confidence of the child if they are continuously getting scrutinized for his or her race.
