In the beginning Dirk makes a connection to the genre of country music. Country music is the genre of a story of all people and it makes a strong connection in our writing. Dirk also gives instructions on how to write a genre essay. He gives good advice about giving a strong thesis statement and giving a good conclusion. He also states that genres give us better impressions when we write our essays. Using genres also helps you get better thoughts and details for your essays. Dirk also expresses genres as the main sources in our writing and to use in our essays.
Define new terms and concepts by quoting or paraphrasing the original author.
The genre of country music in the beginning was a new meaning in writing for me because I did not know the reason that country music had an impact on writing. I also realized that genres are used everywhere to describe a piece of writing.

This reading connects to the genres paper and podcast we did in writing 101. It also connects to some journals I wrote last semester.
Based on the reading, craft one question to act as a springboard for class discussion.
