I would say that for my Project 1 essay I would give myself and A. I felt that this was one of the best essays I have ever wrote and that I really put a lot of time and thought into it. This essay was defiantly from personal experience and examples which really helped me in my writing process. I am a stronger writer when I am writing about something I care about. I really did a good job on this essays sources and examples wise but I need help in the grammar sense of my essays.

For my project 2 essay I would give myself a B. Even though yes I did enjoy the book, and liked the thought behind it I was not passionate about it. I really struggled writing this essay it didn’t flow as well as my first essay. I feel that if I was more passionate about this topic I would have done a better job but I always have work for improvement.

Rhetoric Analysis

Beyoncé Knowles Carter began to rise in fame when she was the lead singer of the group Destiny’s Child. Beyoncé has sold over 100 million records worldwide and she is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. She earned the title of Songwriter of the year by ASCAP, she was the first African American female artist to do this. Beyoncé has performed at the super bowl, not one time but two times. She has also won 23 Grammy’s and has been earned 70 nominations. This is just to name a few of her accomplishments.

Best Thing I Never Had made its debut on June 1, 2011. This song can relate to both guys and girls. Beyoncé argues that sometimes things do not work out the way they seem and it is okay. Beyoncé knows that he wants her back but she can not get back with him because she is finally happy and he treated her so badly. She knows that the best revenge is to be happy and move on and that will make him hurt even more. She is thinking back on the relationship before this one and realized that she is happy she is not together with him. There are flashbacks of old videos of her and her ex showing how happy they thought they were together. But, she knows they can not be together. She then goes down the aisle and realized this is the man she is supposed to be with and not her ex. She knows that the best revenge for the other person is to show them how happy you are. She knows her ex wants her back because she was the one that got away. But Beyoncé shows and proves to women and men that if you are not happy then you need to get out of the situation no matter how much they love you. You can not be in a friendship or relationship that is hurting you and is toxic for your mental health.

Beyoncé uses pathos, by stating at the start of the song ”What goes around comes back around” four times. This is telling her audience that karma and revenge are real and that if somebody treats you badly then it will do the same to them later in life. ”So when I think of the time that I almost loved you” this is very moving because this can relate to so many audiences and can really dig deep into your heart. Her audience is anybody that has ever been hurt in a really bad way in a relationship or friendship and realizes that it is not worth it. She is really trying to relate to her audience and saying that it is okay to get hurt ”Thank God I found the good in goodbye”. Beyoncé is saying that you can always find the good in everything and it will always work out in the end.

The argument Beyoncé is trying to make is that when somebody sees you living your life and doing great it is the best karma. You can not give up you have to keep going because good will come to you, you just have to wait. ”You don’t deserve my tears I guess why they ain’t there” she is making the argument that everything does get better. And that even though crying does help it will always get better. You have to be happy by yourself and eventually, you will find the ”good in goodbye”.
