Dear Kenziee,
Well, here I am composing my Letter to my #Selfie. I know I might not be the strongest writer, but I am really good at writing to talk. I am the type of writer who doesn’t write to inform necessarily but writes to communicate. I am very good at the more casual laid back style of writing, almost as if I am giving a speech to my friends. I find this style of writing not only is easiest for me but that it also suits my personality. I always knew that formal writing wasn’t for me. I knew this because I always struggled in high school with the traditional 5 paragraph writing we had to do. But once I started writ 101 here at Ole Miss I can feel way more confident and successful. I can recall last semester when I wrote a piece to my writing teacher as a reflection on my work in the semester. She reached out to me via email telling me that she had loved how I took my creative ability and turned the reflection into a nontraditional work. At that moment I knew that maybe I wasn’t the worst writer but that I was still finding my way in writing. Though I have learned something I am good at there are still many things I need to work on, as I mentioned I am still finding my way. I hope to focus on learning where commas go. This is something so basic that I still struggle with daily. Another thing that I still struggle with and even makes other people struggle sometimes is my spelling. I am the worst with spelling. I have little red underlines under every other word it feels like. Both of these are fairly basic aspects of writing so I would also like to focus on something a little more college-level rather than basic writing. I want to get better at communicating ideas clearly and consciously. I feel like I always go off on tangents and rants in my writing so I want to work on zoning in and accomplishing what needs to be done. I feel as though the last point I mentioned is perfect for something my instructor could also help me with. Being held accountable for this and remind of it during my work would be a big help. Finally to wrap up my Letter to my #Selfie I want to close off and say that I hope my instructor knows that I am very social in my life and in my writing. I would love to hear feedback and get reassurance with my writing because my writing style is not always the most traditional. The same goes for my learning style, I personally actually prefer online learning over in class because I can sit down and hold myself in a chair until I get what I need to be done rather than getting distracted by other students in the classroom setting. So essentially I am just a bubbly social informal person 🙂
p.s. stop relying on Grammarly.
