Summarize the article — include your reaction, thoughts, anything to help you remember its claims. 100 to 150 words In Driscoll’s articles, it’s immediately clear that the topic she is focusing on throughout her work is the topic of conducting research. She starts off by stating that not all research is the same. Some research involves sitting in a lab and waiting for results, some involve reading writing, and some even involve creating a simulation. But she ultimately tells us that whatever field you may end up in, will teach you what kind of research you need to do. As she works through her article she’s able to discuss on focus on some of the different types of research. Per-say primary research, not only does she explain to readers more about primary research but she provides so much information for them to take to heart. She writes about how to plan your primary research, that a timeline is useful, how to know if this is the right type of research for you. And even more than that she has sections in her writing about, Narrowing Your Topic, Developing Research Questions or Hypotheses, Choosing a Data Collection Method, and so much more. Throughout her article, she’s able to give a very detailed analysis and teach readers all about primary research.

Eliminating Bias in Your Observation Notes- this isn’t a term, but it is a concept, I have always struggled with keeping bias statements in my essays so I wanted to expand on this in this section. Eliminating Bias in Your Observation Notes, she shared the double-entry notebook which is a method I plan to use in the future. For this, you put your observations (facts) separate from your feelings.
How does this reading connect to other articles from class and/or your own research?

 

This is able to connect to our MP 1. Though we focus on secondary research as a big topic in MP 1, we still need to conduct primary research.
Based on the reading, craft one question to act as a springboard for class discussion. The author provides ways to avoid bias, but what is one way that you have practiced before?
