Summarize the article — include your reaction, thoughts, anything to help you remember its claims. 100 to 150 words In the article composed by Warrington, Kovalyova, and Kind the general idea is to help with writing by addressing to students how to analyze sources to find credibility. As usual the authors start off with a short introduction about what they plan to talk about before they actually dive into it. Reading through the article you start by learning how to establish credibility. The best thing that I gathered from these sections is to establish some of the authors credibility on the way the arguments are constructed within the work. Moving on, readers learn about source bias, argument support, finding sources, selecting a sample topic, using questions to determine credibility, and finally the conclusion. The section I found most useful was using questions to determine credibility because it can allow students to make their own checklist of questions to go through when verifying credibility.
Define new terms and concepts by quoting or paraphrasing the original author. lend you their credibility – though this isn’t a term it is something I wanted to bring to this section and break down to keep it in my mind – this term means that when you use an author’s quote in your writing as support you are essentially borrowing the original writers credibility, therefore they are lend you their credibility.
How does this reading connect to other articles from class and/or your own research?

 

This reading made me recall the tree octopus writing that my school, and many other schools, read in primary school. When we were little and read that article it was all about teaching us credibility and how some things can be deceiving.
Based on the reading, craft one question to act as a springboard for class discussion. If you were to write your own list of questions to go though while establishing credibility, what would they be?
