I have learned that arguments are a form of conversation and not a competition between two people. Arguments should be crafted in such a way that it lets others see both sides of an argument. I have learned that the legalization of marijuana is a controversial issue that has multiple viewpoints and sides. The legalization of marijuana is a hard issue to cover because of the nature of the issue. Some problems that I have faced while writing this project, are that it is hard to find unbiased sources to pull from for my writing.

for argument’s sake response
Cohen’s main claim is that people see arguments as a battle with a winner and a loser but Cohen believes that in an argument there is no winner or loser he wants to change that so then arguments become a tool for communication between ideas. He gives the metaphor that war is a battle between two people. He then goes on to talk about how in this form of argument that people rely on tactics such as defense and attack instead of trying to see the positive in opposing ideas or views. When he gives the metaphor about the jury I was able to relate to his idea that arguments can become a performance in front of an audience. After watching this video it made me think about how I can use this in my writing and in my everyday life. In project 3 I can take a look at the opposing views of the other side and instead of discrediting their argument I can learn from it and work it into my essay.
Project #2 Unit Reflection
I feel like in project #2 I improved in all aspects of my writing especially my grammar and sentence structure. I also think comparing it to my project 1 essay I improved in the structure of my writing as a whole. I am really not sure what weakness this project highlighted for me. I feel like the most stressful part of completing this project was doing this essay on a video. I struggled with watching the video than trying to come up with ideas based on it. I feel like it’s easier for me to do an essay on writing pieces rather than videos. I really just pushed through it and watched it over and over again to make sure I had what I needed as well as making sure I understood it. I feel like this unit really strengthened my analysis aspect of writing. It has never really been my strong suit but after this unit, it gave me a better understanding of it.
