I grew up playing soccer and have loved the sport since I was a little girl. The reason I picked this article is because it is a huge ordeal right now within the soccer community. Hope Solo has been the National Women’s Soccer League goal keeper for the past 17 years. She won the golden glove at the World Cup last summer for best goal keeper. On August 30, 2016 Solo announced that she had been fired from the N.W.S.L. and would not play for them for the rest of the season. She was fired because of a comment that she made after the USA vs. Sweden game during the Olympics. In EDHE we are reminded to always stand up for ourself and that is what Solo did. In the past Solo has had some anger but the comment she made toward the Sweden player calling her a “coward” is not a reason to fire someone from you soccer team.
