Literacy to me is being able to read or write and to comprehend what is being read or written.
My Aunt
After coming back from a long day at the lake I sat down on the couch with my aunt. She started talking to me about how school was going and I said I was learning to read. She told me her favorite book as a child was Green Eggs and Ham. I told my aunt that I had that book in my closet and I was going to go get it so we could read together. Once I came back with the book we opened it up. I started trying to sound out the letters to form a word. Anytime I started to struggle a lot my aunt would sit back and be patient with me, but eventually would help me or tell me what the word was. We read the whole book together and I was so proud of myself. She gave me a huge high five and I asked if we could read another book and she told me we could. So I ran back to my room and picked another Dr.Seuss book. We once again finished that book and I was proud. It was time for me to go to bed now and my aunt tucked me in that night. She had told me how proud she was of me and that I could do anything I just had to keep practicing. Ever since then Green Eggs and Ham has been my favorite book.
