The in-class reading and writing activity was very interesting thing to do, and it was a very helpful thing to do also. It was helpful because we had to pick out words we did not know and define them. We also had to find the main ideas and important details and write about it. We had to pick articles. My article was about Trump and a writer on feminism. The article was basically saying that if they disagree with something, they feminize something. They were saying that women are depicted as submissive and men were strong and dominant and this is what we see today in society which is toxic masculinity. Huckabee feminized Schumer’s tweet about shedding tears as a sign of weakness. Trump feminized the court limiting his order. They disagree so they feminized things. This activity was to make critical thinking skills expand and take notes about the ideas in the article that stick. The activity really helped with my critical thinking skills, and it would be very helpful with other activities and maybe even papers. I learned a lot doing this in-class reading and writing activity, and I am sure that the other students learned something as well doing this activity. The activity also tested how well we critically think and make ideas and everything because we only had 75 minutes to do the activity. I don’t critically think well because I didn’t complete the assignment in those 75 minutes but I am sure that the activity improved my critical thinking skills and pull out ideas and everything.

CRQ 02/22
The call: The author says “For one, ‘It should be my decision about whether I pick up the phone. People can call me, but I don’t have to talk to them.'” (Turkle 239)
The author says “Unauthorized immigrants are neither from Mars nor Venus.” (Suarez-Orozco and Suarez-Orozco 670)
The response: This call could be an issue because some people could be calling for an emergency or anything. This isn’t good. People should pick up the phone even though they don’t want to talk to them. You never know what is going on or what is happening. The university relates to it because if someone is getting followed and they call a friend nearby to help them or something but the friend doesn’t pick up the phone because they don’t want to or they think it is something else, the friend may now be in trouble. People just think that just because others call that they don’t want anything or they are wasting their time by calling which is the case sometimes but maybe one day that is not the case and someone may be in trouble or anything. People should just pick up the phone no matter what they think it may be. A call from a friend or strange number could mean someone/something could be in trouble or it could be just a ‘hi, how are you?’
This other call is just stating a fact. This relates to students at universities, public or private schools, community colleges, and trade schools. Unauthorized immigrants are people just like everyone else in the United States. Everyone should be treated equal. When they come to the United States, it is most likely because of the things going on in their county and they want to get away from it. Like the students at my university most likely came to the United States and to my University to further their education and for a better life. They are somewhat like aliens to the United States but they shouldn’t be treated that way because they are still people and now people that lives in the same country as you. People should always treat others how they would want to be treated no matter what. People should consider people’s feelings as well. If someone was mean to them and they were an immigrant then they would want people to welcome them and consider their feelings, so everyone should treat others how they would want to be treated.
The question: Why people don’t pick up the phone for others but expect them to pick up the phone for them?
Why didn’t the children go with their parents when they got deported?

The picture that stood out to me was the one with the 16-year old African American boy lynched and whites are just standing around watching. There are men, women, and even children that watched the boy get lynched. I think the author included this picture to show the works of the mobs around and how everything was really bad back then and to show how things have gotten better now. This picture stood out to me because of all the people that were watching, and it looks like this was during the day. Plus, the boy was only 16-years old.
CRQ 02/20
The call: The author states “The state’s regime partnered robbery of the franchise with robbery of the purse.” (Coates 574)
The response: The government is basically in debt. It feels like the government is being robbed. This can be related to people when others rob them or when someone takes something. Robbery is a crime and apart of the law which relates back to the government explaining how the government is in debt. If anything, I feel like the government rob others which is a little confusing reading that the government being robbed. In my opinion, the government is over everything and everyone which means to me that the government cannot be robbed. In my opinion, the government made college a scam especially having students pay for an access code to do homework which makes a question comes to mind, how can the government actually get robbed. The only thing that comes to mind that could actually be a possibility for the government to get robbed is if someone tricks them or hacks into their system which I think is impossible. But in the reading, it does feel like the government is getting robbed which is what stood out to me because can the government actually get robbed?
The question: Can the government actually be robbed?
Analysis Unit Reflection
The analysis assignment was very interesting to do. The assignment was to choose an artifact (music video, magazine, picture, etc) and connect it with one of the three readings. The process was somewhat complicating because I am not the best writer, ans I have trouble making things more broad and coming up with ideas or things to say. My hook and introduction was the hardest to come up with for me. I chose Beyonce’s music video “Formation.” I think it was a little complicating because not only she showed many things in her video like police brutality, how the government and others forgot about Hurricane Katrina, and the black community but also she said those things as well. My strength was the body paragraphs and backing up the things I was saying with evidence from the video and article I chose. I think this assignment was important because it shows how to take things and analyze them together. I have done an assignment like this in Writ 101 but without using a music video. I think I did okay on this assignment because I do think I have some things that could be better. The part that was in class that somewhat helped me with this assignment was peer review. Peer review is always helpful because it gives you more ideas and things to add, if you forgot or something, to your paper. I really liked my paper because I connected with it not only because I am a young black female but because Beyonce is praising the black community and showing some challenges that is happening in the world today and how everyone just forgot about Hurricane Katrina. Plus, I like the song. I think this assignment helped me as a writer.

Everyone should try emotional correctness because we should all be passionate of others. I do agree and I like what she said. Just because someone doesn’t agree with you, doesn’t mean they have to dislike you as a person. People just look for someone or something to blame because things change which isn’t right because even though things are changing, they most likely are changing for the better and becoming passionate of others.

The peer review was very helpful. I got feedback and I know what to change and add to my paper. I also got ideas from when I was reviewing my classmates paper. Peer review is always helpful when writing essays and papers. It gives helpful feedback, ideas, and much more. Maybe if a classmate has something that sounds better then they would give you that idea and now it made that paragraph better because of the better idea. In class, peer review helped me a lot. It told me my weakest paragraph, strongest paragraph, what needs to me better and worked on, and if I am on the right track.

The point of peer review is for the students. The students get feedback from their classmates and also ideas. They can see what a classmate did and maybe get a idea to add to their paper. It also allows the students to have their mistakes corrected and for them to see maybe a better idea given by another classmate. I think that the teachers think peer review is very helpful for everyone and very useful.

I was thinking about using Beyonce’s music video “Formation” for my rhetorical analysis paper

In this class, we talked about the definition of rape which means that someone had sexual contact with another person without their will. On the TV in the TV show “Star,” there is this girl which is one of the main characters and she was getting rapped by her foster dad and she was young.
