He defines this as the writer or speaker sees a need to change reality through rhetorical discourse. He lists the steps needed to be taken starting with the writer starting with exigence. He says as the writer is writing they need to work within the constraints of the situation. The entire point of discourse is to bring the audience to an agreement. He says that looking at exigence, rhetor, audience, and constraints all help us look at things from different perspectives. Understanding the situation is more important, he explains. |
