Summarize the article — include your reaction, thoughts, anything to help you remember its claims. 100 to 150 words | Donald Murray explains the difference between an amateur and a professional writer. He claims that professional writers must be able to take criticism and praise, but be suspicious of it. The professional writer has the ability to detach themselves from their writing and so they can, “ apply both their caring and their craft to their own work.” He poses seven elements that lead to success. The: subject, audience, form, structure, development, dimensions, and tone. I liked how he talked about then reading the paper sentence by sentence. Describing how every sentence has a story and every word has to be right. He finishes with stating that, “A piece of writing is never finished.” The writer’s eye is never satisfied. |
