Technology influences your writing whether you know it or not. When you are texting your buddy off of your iPhone about a party you are going to later that night you may use slang, not capitalize words, and just overall lack proper grammar. When using a laptop or desktop and writing a formal email to your coworker, you will be more professional and writing in the proper tone that is necessary. With the more formal writing, I don’t usually find myself writing professional emails and messages off of my iPhone. I am usually writing important messages off of my desktop or actually physically writing it on a notecard and not from my iPhone. The clay tablet exercise made you understand this better. If I was told to make a PSA about an iPhone application I would just type it out, but this exercise made me think about exactly I would convey my message with the technology that I was provided with.
I always think that signature line “Sent from my iPhone” is interesting, as if it’s supposed to excuse something unprofessional or rude in an email. The message is still the same for the reader. People would think I’m weird if I put “Send while tired” in my email signature, but I’m not sure that would be any different.
