In grammar and writing, there is always something that someone struggles with. Personally, my most common mistake is not rereading my paper. I always end up convincing myself that since I was the one writing I already know what is on the paper so why reread it. Confession: I typically have someone else do if for me because I can’t get myself to do it. Although, I know my papers need rereading and editing it’s always hard to make myself sit down and do it.
It is hard to imagine that I ever thought I could turn in a paper without rereading my writing. Going over your own writing is a critical step in the writing process and helps you find mistakes that you didn’t realize while writing. As the semester continues I still have a battle with myself with making myself go back over the paper but now I don’t turn an assignment in without reading over it first. especially learned this is crucial to do with a timed essay like the ones on tests because when I am under pressure to write I make the most mistakes and sometimes even repeat myself. I am glad that I have developed the strategy to reread my writing because it has helped improve my writing and my grades on timed writings and even long writing assignments.
