Pharmaceutical Prices

This week I found an article about the price of the painkiller, Vimovo. In the past four years, the sticker price has raised from $138 per bottle in November 2013 to $2,979 per bottle in January 2018. The articles main concern about massive price increase because a consumer can buy the two ingredients separately for only $36. The company claims that Vimovo is more than just a combination of the two drugs and that most insured customers do not pay more than $10 out of pocket. The author of the article does not think that that makes it okay.

This article is important because most people are complaining about the price of life-saving drugs. The biggest controversy has been over Epi-pens because of the absolute necessity of them and the massive price increase.

  1. This one really has hit home for me since for the rest of the semester I have been in a fight with insurance companies.
