Immigrants in America are being suppressed to work in labor forces where they make less than minimum wage and are evidently treated like slaves. In the articles “Slavery in the Land of the Free” by Kevin Bales and Ron Soodalter and “Using Jailed Migrants as a Pool of Cheap Labor” by Ian Urbina, the authors make claims to prove immigrants are being wrongly taken advantage of and are enslaved by their employers. This problem can be solved if the government stopped ignoring this issue and acknowledged the abuse that immigrants go through while simply trying to better their lives. Immigrants are not coming to America to be enslaved; they are coming to receive equal opportunity and freedom, so it is time to grant them that and for America to live up to the name Land of the Free.
